Tutors and tutorial (collaborative) Groups
Tutors are key to the success of the AVID program. Every Tuesday & Thursday college students and other academically talented volunteers come to the AVID classrooms and assist students in running collaborative groups. These tutors are trained to use specific teaching methodologies and materials to work with our AVID students.
Our tutors work with AVID students in study groups and individually, assisting them in all academic areas to make progress commensurate with college expectations. AVID tutorials take place in small groups that are subject area specific.
Tutorials are a great way for students to get support with academic areas in which they are struggling. In order for the tutorials to work efficiently, it is important that students have completed the Tutorial Request Form (TRF) prior to meeting with their tutor.
